Fancy Colour, Naturally Rare

Why "fancy"? In the diamond world, fancy colour is the official grading term for natural diamonds with a strong, distinct colour, such as pink, yellow, blue or champagne. Most diamonds are graded on a scale from colourless to faint yellow, but when the colour is rich enough to go beyond that scale, the diamond is graded as a fancy colour.

Formed deep within the earth, most of them more than a billion years ago, these diamonds take their colour from traces of natural elements or rare changes in their crystal structure. That is what makes them so rare, and so special.

Every fancy colour diamond is graded by its hue and intensity, from Fancy Light to Fancy Intense and Fancy Vivid. The stronger and purer the colour, the rarer the diamond.
